Dethroned Miss Tourism Kenya for Kilifi County Catherine Memba, has been given an ‘offer’ to withdraw a case she filed in court last month against the event organisers.

According to the 22-year-old beauty, she had received an offer of Sh200,000 from Kilifi County deputy governor Kenneth Kamto and another lady only known as Mama Sarah, for her to drop the court case.

She told Word Is: “ I am not after money at all. I want justice to prevail. Even if I go to Kilifi County offices I can’t work well with them. Let them meet me and my lawyer in court.”

Miss Tourism Kenya Ltd’s national executive director and founder Alice Kamunge has been urging the parties concerned to resolve the issue and allow the model to represent the county.

“The Coast region is a tourist haven. It’s very shameful if a county like Kilifi misses to produce their own beauty queen to compete with others from across the country. This matter must be resolved in an amicable manner to allow development,” she said.

The Miss Tourism Kenya beauty queen will be crowned this Friday, in a grand finale to be held at Mombasa’s Mama Ngina grounds. However, seven counties will miss the fete after they failed to produce their contestants. They are Kilifi, Garissa, Mandela, Isiolo, Lamu, Tana River and Moyale.
